It’s now official . . . The motion picture and television rights to my debut historical novel NEW YORK 1609 have been optioned for development and production.

LOGLINE: An independent-minded Native American boy battles ambitious explorers, greedy traders, land-hungry settlers, and ruthless officials at the 17th-century birth of New York City.

Little Rituals

The image above is not of me but of a swimming friend named John. His life—at least the part I see at the pool—seems in balance. He starts with a ritual period of relaxation and meditation, and then he dives in to start his swimming workout. Slow and fast. Easy and hard. A miniature life in balance.

Midway

It’s the solstice! (photo: Pixabay)

I like to write about the turning points of the seasons, the so-called “four posts” of the astronomical calendar. In this case, the longest day of the year (for the Northern Hemisphere): the Summer Solstice. Today.

It’s the midpoint of the year for me (the year starting at the Winter Solstice). And for summer, it’s roughly midway in the growing season, halfway between planting and harvest.
