The image above is not of me but of a swimming friend named John. His life—at least the part I see at the pool—seems in balance. He starts with a ritual period of relaxation and meditation, and then he dives in to start his swimming workout. Slow and fast. Easy and hard. A miniature life in balance.

Exploiting the Autumnal Equinox (it’s today)??? Well, I do like to use the earth’s four seasonal markers to talk about my book writing. And today marks an important point, just like this fall equinox does (halfway to the winter solstice, when day equals night). I’m finalizing the “polished” 1st draft of my new novel.

In my upcoming book release (still finalizing last details), the Native-American characters are frequently talking about the four main turning points of Mother Earth’s annual cycle: the two solstices and the two equinoxes. And today is one of those important points: the Spring Equinox. The Balance of Days.

Living with the Seasons

Book 4 of The Manhattan Series is taking a little longer for me to write. There are the usual distractions: foreseen and unforeseen events, changes in personal situations, updates and attentions on the earlier books… But in the meantime, there are also some unexpected pleasures and treasures around this time of year that relate to the rhythm of the seasons and the story I’m writing.
