It’s here! My full-length, historical fiction novel (paperback and ebook) about the birth of New York City (and its centerpiece island, Manhattan) has launched.
Based on true events and extensively researched, New York 1609 spans the crucial years 1609–1644, which firmly planted the seeds of commerce, finance, and culture in the world’s first megacity that continue to this day. Alternating between European and Indian points of view, the book includes an in-depth depiction of the negotiations and legendary “purchase” of Manhattan in 1626.
I delayed things a bit while I fine-tuned the text and maps, and did another complete round of editing. In the paperback edition, the page count actually increased to 578 pages. This includes a new Prologue and some revised wording after consulting with one of the descendant Native American/First Nation tribes now living in Canada.
If you’ve already bought one or more of the short ebooks (or even if not), I’ve made purchasing this new book pretty darn attractive: $0.99 (for the ebook; limited-time offer), and it’s also available for free on Kindle Unlimited. For the paperback, Amazon is currently selling it at its list price ($14.95), but I’m hoping for that price to go down. In any case, there’s no time like the present to see what I’ve been up to these last months (years, actually).
Here’s the link to New York 1609 on Amazon. Check it out, and if you like it, leave a rating and review. Reviews really do make a big difference for how other readers (and Amazon itself) view(s) books. It all helps. Thanks.

Hello Aline! First, I’m honored to have a Sarah Rapelje descendent commenting here. I studied the history of your ancestors for my ebook series and then the compilation of the “NEW YORK 1609” omnibus edition mentioned in this post.
I’m not sure if there will be another follow-up to the NY1609 story (make sure you see the Books tab here for a history of the different books and how they relate), but if there is, you’ll be among the first to know.
Thanks again for your comment.

I am looking to purchase your book “New York 1609: A Novel”. A Google search reveals that it is available on Amazon, but they wont deliver to Australia, because of our archaic tax regime. Could you advise alternative suppliers of the paper edition.
Regards
Jim

Hi Jim. Thanks for the interest, but I’m saddened that you cannot have an Amazon book (printed by Amazon) delivered to you in Australia. Q: Are you saying that Amazon.com.au (where I can see the book listed) will not work?
Unfortunately, the “New York 1609” books are currently only available from Amazon stores worldwide.
If that doesn’t work, another idea comes to mind: I buy the book and have it shipped to you, either directly through Amazon.com or via Global Post or similar. You reimburse me the costs.
What do you think?
